About Nick Pillon
My name is Nick Pillon. I have been a licensed superyacht engineer for 6+ years and also hold my 100ton USCG Master license. I have 60,000+ miles at sea, mostly sailing, in many different corners of the world!
I grew up in rural New Jersey but after meeting my fiancé while sailing a 144ft schooner, I've since called Olympia Washington my home. I have a degree in mechanical engineering and spent 5+ years in the energy sector prior to becoming an engineer on superyachts.
Aside from being an engineer I also own and operate a tugboat business with a small wooden tug from 1927 and my fiancé runs a charter business with her 42ft schooner. It's easy to see that boats, boating, and the sea run deep into my life in every way!
What did you do before working with Boatshed?
I was a superyacht engineer and have worked full-time on vessels ranging from 108 to 217ft. Prior to that as a mechanical engineer in the energy sector.
What attracted you to become part of the Boatshed team?
The people and the reputation is what brought to Waterline Boats originally, and them being part of Boatshed ensures that I will be able to provide the best possible experience to my customers.
Are you a motorboater or a sailor?
If I had to choose, sailor, but I've spent countless hours in boats of all kinds.
What is your most memorable boating experience?
My first Atlantic crossing, serving as first mate/engineer with my fiancé as captain aboard a 108ft sloop from Antigua to Spain!
