Judel/vrolijk & co. , a German yacht design company, did a review and made the following comments:
- The Dehler 41 DS is considered a High Performance Cruiser/Racer.
- An earlier model, the Dehler 38, had a 10 year history of great performance. The 41 just expanded on this history.
- The 41 has a moderate beam, a little little topside flair and U-shaped sections. The cruising model keel is L shaped. This design provides great up wind performance.
- This is a 9/10 fractional rig
- Deck and cockpit layout are designed to allow a large working area for crew.
- The interior layout provides comfortable space for crew while racing or cruising.
Waterline Boats / Boatshed does not independently verify capacities and measures, which are reported from seller-provided information and/or literature.

Dehler Boat Builders was started in 1963 by Will Dehler in Germany. In 1966 he was joined by his brother Heinz. Their company was one of the first to start building boats with fiberglass (GRP). Total production by 1982 was 4,000 sail boats. Production slowed until 2007 when the German company Hanse Yachts purchased the company.
The Dehler 41 Deck Salon was built from 1994 till 2007. It was considered one of the best cruiser racers of its time.
